New Payments Platform Questions
The New Payments Platform is a centralised platform that facilitates real-time clearing and settlements of payments between Australian financial institutions.
Please refer to Find an institution - NPPA for a list of NPP participants.
No, there are no chargebacks for NPP payments, as chargebacks relate to debit or credit card transactions. There is an NPP dispute process for payments that is similar to the current direct credit dispute process via Direct Entry (DE).
AzupayID: Receiving Payments Questions
You can use the Payments API to make a payment from your AzupayOut account.
Note: Functionality to support making manual payments via user interface from the Client dashboard is in development stage.
By default a Merchant’s account is configured to receive payments of an exact amount. If a different amount is received, Azupay will return that payment to the payer.
However, you can ask for this Payment Amount Configuration to be changed to the following other types:
-
Any amount: payment can be exact, over or under.
-
<= specified amount: payment can be less than or equal to specified amount
-
>= specified amount: payment can be greater than or equal to specified amount
The maximum amount depends on the limits imposed by the payers financial institution. This is typically part of the account’s ‘Pay Anyone’ limit.
There is no limit imposed by Azupay.
No. End users are not required to have their own PayID. Source account PayID is not sent to us by the NPP as part of the payment data.
Yes, payments requests can be configured to accept more than one payment to a single PayID.
For more information on how to configure payment requests, please refer to the Developer Portal here.
Yes, a QR Code is returned to the Merchant along with each request for a PayID. The QR Code can then be displayed to the payer to initiate the payment.
Payment(s) made to an expired PayID will be immediately refunded to the customer.

AzupayOUT: Making Payments Questions
Any remaining funds in the AzupayOut account which are not paid out after 48 hours, will be settled to your settlement account in the next sweep.
Azupay only rejects payments if the payment fails a validation rule based on specific configuration rules that you set as Client/merchant.
Example: if a PayID or amount is entered incorrectly.

Payments to AzupayOut recipients of non-NPP enabled banks will receive their funds via DE in 3-5 business days. Azupay will sweep the account balance to the merchant’s settlement account via Direct Entry (DE). This settlement will take 3 to 5 business days.
Settlement Questions
The combined settlement account provides a central pool of funds for both AzupayID and AzupayOut, and these funds can be then shared across both products.
Everyday at 11 am (Australian Eastern Standard Time) the daily sweep process will settle the remaining balance from your AzupayID account to your external bank account.
You can request a change in Settlement account details via Azupay’s Service Desk portal:
Azupay will sweep the account balance to customers settlement account via Direct Entry (DE). This settlement will take 3 to 5 business days.
Payments to AzupayOut recipients of non-NPP enabled banks will receive their funds via DE in 3-5 business days.
Outbound payments via AzupayOut are settled instantly to recipients.
Inbound payments are settled instantly to your Azupay account. Funds can then be sent to your external bank account on demand using our API.
Refunds Questions
Refunds for payments can be initiated via API or through the Client Dashboard.
No, payments cannot be rejected automatically via API. However once a payment is settled, the payment can be immediately be refunded by calling the refund
API. Funds will never hit your personal external bank account in this case.
Integration and Technical Questions
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) is the final phase of testing performed by the end user or client to verify a software system or application is working to specifications before moving the application or connecting to the application in a production environment.
Access to our UAT environment can be requested via Azupay’s Service Desk portal:
Adding or removing users from the UAT or Production environment can be requested via Azupay Service Desk portal:
Please refer the User Guide | Developer Portal to enable the checkout widget via dashboard.
Requesting an additional domain requires a confirmation from the Merchant that they own the domain. Every Merchant is required to keep a DNS entry to their owned domains.
Once confirmed, Azupay can add the domain to Merchant’s UAT or Prod environment.
Note: Azupay will verify the DNS entries periodically.
The fullLegalAccountName will contain the information about all the account holders. For example the response you will receive will be fullLegalAccountName = ”John Smith & Karen Smith” for the joint accounts.
